I think at a 45 degree angle to the left or right gives a good 3d effect of the subject. With this the angles created by the subject create shadow detail that define a 3d look. For this reason, image 8 is my favorite, it is lite from the front at a 45 degree angle just right of the subject. Had I raised the angle of the camera the 3d effect would have been more pronounced.
